Mother Theresa established the Missionaries of Charity. Her work amongst the poor was recognised by secular society when she was awarded the Nobel Prize and she was feted in the media, but this is not what the Order is about. The Sisters tirelessly and modestly serve the people they care for. Their faith is such that they expect nothing but the help that they receive from God. We act as His distribution agent, by providing food, clothing and other need that we are able to meet.

The four Sisters of Charity at the Shallcross Mission look after about fifty adults and children. These are truly the poor and marginalized; many have Aids, some are blind, some are paralysed. All are rejected by society. The Sisters also feed the hungry in the neighbourhood as far as their means allow.
